Thomson Smillie (1942-2014) was a major arts leader in Louisville. He ran Kentucky Opera for 16 seasons, wrote a column for Louisville Magazine, was a lecturer on opera, and for a little over a year brought his wit and charm to Classical 90.5 for a monthly feature. From 2010-2012 he was program director of Classical Minnesota Public Radio. He hosted and produced the award-winning series African American Voices, he’s the host for Louisville Orchestra concert talks, and a composer.
