Prokofiev Found

You may not consider adding Prokofiev to your workout playlist, but a recent discovery reveals music composed for a large, athletic event in Red Square that was supposed to take place in 1939. The event never happened, and the music, called Music for Athletic Exercises was not seen again until 2004. Boris Berman, a noted Prokofiev scholar and Yale professor, has worked on preparing a performance version of this piece, along with several other lost Prokofiev scores. The entire effort will be presented at a Zankel Hall on February 9th in a concert called "Prokofiev Rediscovered." You can hear NPR's story here and listen to some of the music.
