Deborah Lander, viola, is native to Sydney, Australia, however her career as chamber musician, soloist, and pedagogue has taken her to the world’s major concert halls and Universities.
Her CD of works written for her, VIOLA VIBES, was released in Oct, 2006, and received high praise in a Strad Magazine review.
Dr Lander joined the faculty at the Unversity of Kentucky in 2008. Prior to that she held the tenured viola position at the University of Newcastle (Australia) for 11 years, and has served on the string faculties of the Sydney Conservatorium and the Australian Institute of Music.
Benjamin Karp, cello, received the MM degree from Indiana University, where he was a student of Janos Starker and Gary Hoffman, and a BA in Philosophy from Yale University.
He joined the faculty at the University of Kentucky in 1991. Mr. Karp is a member of the Leonore String Quartet, and principal cellist of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. He is a widely known chamber musician, appearing at festivals throughout the United States. Before coming to the University of Kentucky Mr. Karp was for six years cellist of the New College String Quartet and principal cellist of the Florida West Coast Symphony. He has recorded for the Telarc, Gasparo, Arabesque, CRI, and Centaur labels.
