Louisville Orchestra files Chapter 11: Now What?

So what's next after news hit that the Louisville orchestra has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection? The most immediate concern is for the current orchestra season and performances with other organizations like Louisville Ballet. A recent anonymous donation may allow for the orchestra to finish the 2010-2011 season.

As an aside, seeing as how an anonymous donation fell into the orchestra's hands after announcing Chapter 11*. The money is out there, the orchestra knows who has the money to donate. Why did this anonymous donor wait until after the bankruptcy announcement to give? There are lots of questions and, at this time, few satisfying answers. You can expect Thomson Smillie to have something to add to this conversation on "Smillie's Picks", heard Tuesdays at 1:30 on Classical 90.5.

* CORRECTION. The anonymous donation came in BEFORE the Chapter 11 filing. My apologies for the error.
