Sharing Music Sharing Stories

Classical 90.5’s classroom visits are designed for kids to hear music and stories and share their own. Education programs manager, Sara Soltau, holds a Masters in violin performance and thinks both performing and broadcasting music are great ways to share musical traditions. She also believes everyone has something important to say and both speaking and listening are equally valuable skills for musicians and everyone alike! Sara is currently performing “Ferdinand the Bull” for speaker and violin (music by Alan Ridout and words by Munro Leaf) in schools and other community spaces. She performs as well as records her audience (usually Elementary and Middle School students) telling why they love music. You can use her recording, powerpoint, and teacher’s guide in your classroom or home! And share your voices and stories with us wherever you are!

We are now partnering with Squallis Puppeteers’ Shawn Hennessey who designed and built a suitcase puppet show for Ferdinand! (see image above) You can book our show and workshop at and read WFPL’s article here.
